I am just asking out of curiosity; I'm not getting a big tank or any Bala sharks for a while. Bala sharks are also known as silver sharks and tricolor sharks.

Would a group of 3 or 4 be happy in a 75 gallon tank? They would share it with a group of Clown Loaches and some small schooling fish.

Yes balas would be fine in the 75 gallon tank, and from what ive heard they get along fine with clown loaches.

i've been told that bala sharks aren't comfortable in anything less than 200 g

i've currently got mine in a 180 g and they're still small and i worry about them not having enough room when they're bigger ( i thought that i had adequate sapce when i bought them)

but mine get along with my clowns just fine, they dont' bother each other, unless the sharks are zooming around disrupting everyone :)

Wow thats pretty funny, a 200 gallon tank. So they sell them at LFs's so that no can buy them because i dont know to many pple wiht a 200 gallon tank. Thats ridiculous the only fish that need tanks that big would be fish like arowanas and red tail catfishes, not balas (id say a minimum of 75 gallons for them).

Ever seen irridescent sharks? 3' long. Ever seen red snakeheads? 3' long as well. I could go on with commonly found huge fish, but i'll stop there.

P.T.

I said would be fish like arowanas and red tails i didnt want to name everyone, keyword "like". Balas are not one of those massive fish.

Considering that they get to 12"+, are highly active, and need to be in schools, i would consider them to be a fish with quite a demand for a large tank.

P.T.

edit: i might add that yes, the minimum requirement should be a 75g for a school of maybe 3

Yenko, why ot consider Redline torpedo barbs...they grow to 6" have illumionous red stripe on their body and yellow tail lights.

They have a simialr body shape to balas...the only thing is that they are quite expensive.
