12 gallon tank is okay :D
But a friend of mine is giving away a 15 gallon tank because he is moving
can i have some info on bala sharks.. can they be kept in a 15gal?
Differretn people say they grow to 6in some say 33inch?
wtffff!??!?!

balas should' be kept with at a min a group of 3 and some have been known to grow 20" but on average even when well cared 4 they grow most times max 7-10"

Ricky have you not learnt from everyones experience with pets at home to take everything they say with a pinch of salt, they are a national chain with profit goals and nothing else, they will sell what they can to anyone.

Sorry mate you need to find a new lfs

They tend to grow to 12-14 inches. Even if they did only reach 6 inches, and could be kept alone, a 15 gallon isn't sufficent for a 6 inch fish...

Hi Rickyomd,

I seem to remember you Pm'd me with exactly the same question a few weeks back.

They grow to about 12 - 14 inches and will start to eat small fish when reaching adulthood. They must be kept with other large fish to avoid this, and certainly not in a 12 or 15 gallon tank.

i had two balas and only one now. u need a long tank, and a bala needs space to swim.

i heard of one that grew to 16'' but that one was 8 years old. of course if u want it to live that long it would be best in a bigger tank.

maybe you should google the fish you want before you try to fit them in a place they dont belong
