I've got 3 Badis blosyrus in a heavily planted 70 litre tank. They also have 7 coconut caves of various sizes, some covered with java moss. For a month I had some rescued Yoyo loaches with them and the badis were active and bold. since I re-homed the loaches the badis have turned shy, hiding in their caves or in some secluded part of the tank. they even seem to be off their food.
I've checked the water chemistry and it's fine, stable ph/gh and no ammonia etc. they're well fed - live daphnia, grindal worm, bloodworm and cherry shrimps - and I can't understand why they have become so reluctant to move around. Either the loaches were emboldening them or pestering them, as their removal is the only change.
Anyone else kept these? I'm not sure if I should buy some dither fish for them or leave them alone in case it's a breeding issue.
