has anyone had a cheaper tank that has busted, after buying a cheaper 6x2x2 i have recently been told the glass is cheap and it would all just break up.. is this true, glass looks fine to me

The cost of glass isn't important, it's the thickness and it's condition. For a 2ft tall tank you want at least 8mm glass, preferably 10mm. Look for any cracks. If the glass is cracked or thinner than 8mm, I'd personally not use it.

Edit to add, you also want at least 2 brace bars, preferably 3-4 to reduce the stress on the tank seams. The braces run front to back, with "runners" across the front and back. Braces are usually siliconed to the runners and to the front and back

A friend of mine has a small (30gal) salt water tank with glass that was too thin and the tank burst. She ended up missing all of her classes at University that day as her and her boyfriend worked tirelessly to save fish, living rock and inverts and to set up a new tank.

If the glasses is at all iffy I wouldn't use it.
