Besides regular cleanings and cutting down on food, what can be done about the blooms?
I have reoccurring and sometimes persistent blooms. Thanks

Including but not limited to:

Improve filtration.
Fine mechanical filtration.
Activated carbon.
UV sterilizer.
Beneficial bacteria starter.
Reduced lighting.
More water changes.
Thank you, that gives me a lot of options.

How old is the tank?
Bacterial blooms are common in newer setups and often resolve themselves without intervention once the ecology balances itself.
Nay more details or pics on your specific issues?

What, if any, additives do you use for the water and plants? That could be a contributing factor.

Let's add one - food.

But some questions to maybe help.

Tank size?
Substrate?
Water change routine?
Species (and numbers) of fish?
Feeding frequency and foods?
Lighting, and relationship to windows?
Filtration?
Age of tank?
Recent changes?

There are lot of possibilities, but those might narrow it down. It's one of those issues that usually can be worked out easily.

The only bacterial bloom I've got and like to keep is in my pool. My fish in there love it... It's not dirty water at all. If you'll scoop a glas s of water out of there, it's all clear...
