Hi,

I have recently set up a 12 gallon tank with 3 swordtails and a bunch of platties, I used mature filter media in half of the filter for the new tank & added a small dose of Cycle.

Everything looked good for a week but then one of the platties developed finrot, so I treated it with the Nutrafin Fin rot stuff (No. 8) and 5 days later (today) the tank has white cloudy water & small bits of what look white algae growing on the glass.

Is this just a bacterial bloom or should I be worrying?

Thanks,
Paul

If you added to many fish to soon the tank can go into a mini cycle if there not enough beneifcal bacteria to cope with the fish load.
Just rub the fungus of the glass with an algae scraper.
Have you tested your water in ammonia and nitrite.
Meds can also knock water stats.
have you increased aeration in the tank.
Your waters stats should tell you if you gone into a mini cycle.
