my tanks been going about 3-4 months now and the water is rather cloudy. I have been told that this is a bacterial bloom and that carbon gets rid of it. I have been filtering with the carbon for about a month now and theres no change in the colour of the water. :S

Any suggestions anyone?

thanks, ant

I've heard this is due to high nitrate levels. What are you nitrate levels at?

If high, do some water changes with a good gravel vac (30% change every week for a fully stocked tank).

Also, if you are overfeeding (food is left uneaten), then feed less.

This is good advice from xoedusk. The carbon isn't really going to help at all, as you have apparantly already figured out. If you list what fish you have, and the size of your tank, you can probably get some good advice here on whether it is too much or not. Also, what type of filter do you have? Is it clean? And is it mature, aka is the tank cycled?

When our tank got quite cloudy I did small daily water changes and within the week the cloudiness was gone.
