Are backrounds that important? I took one off on Saturday because water had got between it and the glass, I didn't replace it and now my fish aren't eating. The tank is tight against the wall so replacing the backround isn't really an option.

Being without a background can make fish nervous. In the wild, a lot fish tend to hug the banks rather than swimming right out in the open.

I'm sure you can slide something down the back.

I doubt it but i will give it a good try. They haven't ate since Saturday so its worth a shot. Thank you.

Black bin bag and a long stick ;)

Can't beat the ol bin bag!

I use a large sheet of black card. It's reasonably rigid so easy to slip down the back.

I've always considered the background was for me really, but that's a really interesting thought! Hope you can remedy the problem!

I got a backround on, my wifes arms are smaller than mine! They still haven't eaten but they are spending more time swimming about instead of hiding.

Never knew that backgrounds were actually helpful! Thanks for the info!
