I bought a background for my aquarium. It didn't have instructions on it so I assumed the background goes on the outside back of the aquarium. I taped it up and went to look at the finished 'project'. I could barely see any of the picture! I did notice that the wet spots that stuck to the back of the aquarium were VERY bright.

Does the background go INSIDE the aquarium?! If so....HOW?!

I should have just done what I've read other people have done...spray painted it black! Duh.

It does go on the outside of the aquarium. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to see any of the background. Is the glass or tank cloudy?

oh i know what you mean lol.

Best thing to do, is to get some sticky back plastic, basically two sided selotape.

Use a good amount of this and you'll not go far wrong. If you just tape at corners etc you'll get what's happened, it needs to be as tight onto the glass as possible!

doh, i've just read this after adding my first fish about 20 mins ago, feel quite stupid now cos i've put mine on the inside !!! I bought an adhesive from the shop i bought the tank from and just assumed it went on the inside !! will this cause any harm ?

cheers

dortiz24 sorry to hijack your post by the way !!

Some backgrounds are designed to go inside the tank, the Juwel ones for instance.

just read another post after this one about backgrounds, and i'm a bit more confident now. The type i bought is the stuff off a roll that you just cut to size, the background itself is definately waterproof and this stuff sounds the same sort of tihng i used SeaView gel (someone mentioned it in another post) so i'm assuming i was right to put it inside when i sat the tank up !!

Thats your answer right there! I saw a thread on here the other day that mentioned using a light coat of olive oil or something similar so that the entire background "sticks" to the glass. If I can find the thread again, I'll post a link here for you. Good luck!

lyk p&j says...u can use practically ne oil, vaselin etc on the back of ur tank...the background will stick on, then use a credit card or sumtin to get rid of the air bubbles. and watch out for excess oil leakin out when doin this...

this method should last long term

the back ground goes at the back of the aquarium and u should mesaure it before u put it on

good luck
