Hi All,

Sometime ago someone mentioned about using vaseline to stick their background to their tank. My question is how do you do this, do you just smear the vaseline all over the back glass of the tank then offer up the background and just smooth it out with a rolling pin or similar?

Thanks,

Rich

I used vaseline with my old background.

Just smear it on, offer up the background then smooth it out with a credit card or similar.

What colour is the background?

It is a picture background showing a few plants and a nice piece of Mopani Bogwood. I did have just a plain blue background but got fed up with water seeping down the back and making it look crap, I didn't vaseline it I just stuck it with Double Sided tape at the time, because I didnt know about the vaseline trick.

That will be fine then. I tried the vasaline with a black background (for some unknown reason) and it didn't work.

Hi,

Just finished the vaseline trick with the new background. I am amazed at the difference it makes from just taping it to the back of the tank. Thanks for the tips.

Glad i could help :good:

Im A newbie, just bought a tank and bits, I was wondering what to do with the background, I have put it on with selotape and it looked dull. I noticed that some water had seeped down and it looked clearer and brighter in that area, I thought I would look on here and see if anyone had any sugestions.... So shortly I am going to try the vaseline trick...

Many thanks, great forum... :good:

only advice I have to offer is make sure you put it on before you position your tank and fill it.

Havent tried the vaseline thing but suggestions above sound like a good idea.
