I'm looking into getting a dark "rock look" background for my tank. Mainly to hide the wires and son on. It will sit inside the tank up against the glass, so I wont ahve any problems with reflections.

They are made locally by the operator of a LFS nearby. He just cuts them to any size you want.

Not as cheap as the printed backgrounds, but IMO, far more attractive.

I don't mind them but don't use them. Neither of my 2 tanks are against a wall, so I like being able to view them from both sides.

Tishygirl, i have the same background on my 55g. It also has some roman-looking ruins in it so it kinda fits....I don't like it too much but everyone else in the house was complaining about the lack of a background. The tanks in my room don't have any but my 29 needs a basic black background so my new plants will look a lot better.

But dont you still see cords from one side?

Bump....We have more than 50 members.....

I just used a simple black background for my 30g and i use a mirror for my 10 gallon.:) heh, makes it look bigger and gives fish opportunity to make other, more recognizable friends.

I prefer a background that will make your aquarium seem larger and imo the black/blue ones dont do that. My tank has one that blends in with the plants and substrate.
