Background stem plants need putting at the back of the tank. The only problem is.... the filter flow runs round the outside of the tank, that's what I always though gave the best circulation, up one side and down the other.

Problem is... the stems bend right over and follow the flow forming an arc shape rather than going up to the surface and if they do reach the surface then they turn round and back off up the tank again.

What is the official way to get stem plants to behave and look like tall trees gently swaying in the wind like in those amazing photos and books you read? (or do they just turn off the filter and cheat to take those pics?)

i thinkl they use external filtration in those pics or turn the filters of one solution is maybe to put the filter so it is on on another side of the tank this will mean they will stay vertically upright and you still get nice flow saying plants e.t.c

Doesn't most people's flow run down the back of the tank ?

Does anyone cheat and use little suckers cheaply available online, to hold long stem plants in position? I wonder if that would work?
