What do you do in case of a power outage? I bought a plain battery operated air pump like they use on boats for bait buckets. But the other day while browsing at petsmart I saw this neat air pump that you put in batteries, hook it into the tank and plug it in. Then in the event of a power outage it automatically turns on and when the power comes back on, it shuts off!! I think it would be great to have! then if the power goes out and you are not home or asleep your fish should be ok. What do the rest of you think?? Should I Get this??? It is about $13.

well $13 isnt very much to spend, but to be honest I dont think you need it.

Fish can survive without power for quite a few hours!

So unless you have a very intermittent power supply then I would not personally bother

fish can but what about the filter? for the sake of $13 i would unless they only supply power for a couple of mins in which case is pointless

I believe the box said it lasted 48 hours. Which I thank is a good amount of time.

the OP said an air pump, which in my experience pumps air to airstones etc for bubbles in the tank, and does not filter waste
