I read on here that having a black back drop makes plants and fish stand out more.
Does the back drop matterr to fish and can i use a bin bag?

Bin bags are actually great as a back drop. The plain black makes things within your tank stand out more my creating more contrasts. Your fish will also feel more comfortable as the full side of black will form a sense of security.

Okay i'll do that now, to i have to open the bin bag up? Will that not create creases?

Fish come from a vast number of different habitats and adapt to those local situations in ways related to many different considerations, such as safety, potential food, comfort and social relationships (in the literature, within-species social and sexual reasons play a much bigger role than one might initially think.)

So it's very hard to generalize from the point of view of the fish. Backgrounds are mostly all about humans often trying to create a beautiful image in their homes. It is true however that many fish will indeed feel a greater security and less stress if they have both background and plants available as options for protective cover. It has been observed that a greater density of plants actually encourages shy fish to display in the open more often.

I'm sorry buy I can't help on that one. I'm completely hopeless with applying bin bags as a back drop. Getting rid of creases for me results in lots of cellotape!
