BABY STEALER?!?!

So....is it normal for fish to steal other fish's babies and take care of them? Cause my cons are def snatching up my firemouth fry and putting them in there little breeding zone and taking care of them... Its freaking amazing. Def the coolest thing i have seen since i started with the fish keeping hobby. ITs like there all one big family taking care of all the babies. Strange. Anyone know if this is normal?

breeding has never been my 'thing' but I have heard that some species do this. I wouldn't worry about it and would just continue enjoying it!

Makes you wonder if you could add fry from cichlids who aren't doing such a hot job taking care of them to ones that are... I don't know if that would screw up the recognition of one type to another though... Last thing a person would need is a ram that thinks it's a convict lol.
