Found that my guppy had beaten me to it and given birth before i could put her into the isolation tank!
I presume that the fry will end up as lunch they are hiding in the plants at the moment.
Will any survive? they are feeding as they dart out to grab the food that i have ground to powder.

you might get soem survive depending on what other fish are there and how many places are there to hide.

Thanks for the reply kizno1.
I have 9 guppies,4 cherry barb,1 harleyquin,4 platys and 5 neons in a 190 litre tank, the fry are in the cabomba and hiding behind the power filter which will probably suck them in as they keep darting about in front of the intake grill

Float some plants at the top of the tank. Mine would hang around there.

Thanks wilder i will go and do it now as its stressing me out watching them dice with death every time they wander out into open water.

I was the same way when I had babies.

My heart would be in my mouth everytime they swam out of hiding.
Some fish leave them alone. But black neons used to sit and wait for them to appear.

You could net the babies and put them into the isolation tank?

I am rubbish at timing it to get my guppies into the breeding trap before they give birth, (or else they are rubbish at giving birth when they are in there!), but I used to net out the fry from the tank and palce them in the bath.
However, I found that when saving every fry I would end up with some fish that "weren't great", either grew small, or would die early, where as other fry from the same batch would be fine.
Now, (partly because I am not OVERLY fussed about having more guppies!), I leave the fry in the main tank with the other fish. I have plants and a few nooks and crannies that the fry hide, in particular behind the filter spray bar. Yes, I get less fry surviving doing it this way, but those that do survive seem to be "the best of the best", the bigger fish, the strongest swimmers, (the best hiders?). Natural selection at it's most vivid I guess!
