Trying to upload a pic of the baby fish that have appeared in our tank!

I think they are either Neon's or Silver Dollars- I wil try and add a pic of a Silver Dollar to as i am now questioning whether they are Dollars or not

Have added one with some of our other fish too :good:

Im not sure what that fish in the 2nd pic is but its not a silver dollar. Silver dollars are alot deeper bodied and have a different mouth.
Silver dollars look like this

But whatever that fish is it does look like the babies are theres.

Oh dear-yes nothing like our fish

Hmm this needs investigating then-i am sure those babies are those fish-if not a neon. They are the only similar fish that have red fins/tails.

As i have said it's very odd these babies have just appeared from no where-we just suddenly noticed them swimming aorund! 6 of them.

never had babies in our tanks before ( we have had a tank for 3/4 yrs)

Thanks for the reply

They dont look like neons IMO. They must had hid the eggs well then they would normally get eating in a community tank. How big is the tank> and what the stock?

To say the least they look great and if they have survived that long to a real nice juvi size then spot on,
As to silver dollars sorry they i beleive are colombian tetra's<Hyphessobrycon columbianus
,along with some rummynoses< Hemigrammus rhodostomus, and a redtailed black shark<Epalzeorhynchos bicolor, and some bala sharks<Balantiocheilos melanopterus
Babies iam going to say look like colombian's

Hi there

We have a 200L tank-
3 X Silver Dollars(+ 5 Babies!)- Which i now know are not Silver Dollars!
1 X Black Red Tailed Shark
3 X Silver Sharks
1 X Clown Loach(one died soon after purchase)
2 X Neon Tetra(some died a long while back)
4 X Rummy Tetra
2 X Bottom feeders-Cory
1 X Bigger bottom feeder- Bristlenose ple

I agree that the babies look like what i thought were the Dollars as they have the red fins/tail.
I am very shocked that we have babies in the tank as i too would have thought they woudl have been eaten!

Thnak you for all replies.
Looks like everyone agrees with me that they look like what i thought were the Dollars!
Can anyone give me any more info about these fish?
How big they get etc?
I am so pleased that they are doing well! We have now let them out of the net with the rest of the fish -as they have not been eaten so far i would say they a good chance of survival :good:

Agreed Colombian Redfin tetra, Hyphessobrycon colombianus
