ok so a few months ago i rescued a sword teal fish from walmart during the first few week i thought she might die but after 2 weeks she got better and was as happy as could be i noticed she had gotten a big big belly and she is about to have babies but she is going crazy she keeps splashing the water she look like she is having problems breathing and all she can do is swim up for a couple mins then back down and started breathing weird if any one could help i would be so grateful she has not had babies before this is her first time

She could have had babies before.  But I can say if the light is always on, maybe keep it off or only turn it on for a few hours. Make sure she has enough oxygen and is fed a good amount.  I feed my fish once or twice a day with small meals. Maybe an extra small meal.  Be sure to not overfeed though.

Also if she doesn't have any plants to hide behind and make her feel more secure (real or fake) try getting some. My female guppies always hide when giving birth.

Ok thanks she has been hiding a lot but I. Worried she won't eat at all I've tried eavre thing all of her favorites Evan shrimp! She is so big I think she is going to pop I think she had some blood come out is that bad?

How many gallons is the tank please?
How many fish and which type?
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph?

Has the blood come out of her anus?
How is she now?

Oh we all good she is the evil mom of 20 babys thanks for the help! I think they all got eaten but one. cuz I left them in the tank she was one of the newer moms. I like to keep the baby's from the older moms they seam to be stronger. I will start keeping the fry after the next berth if she is still having babys:)

Maybe I'm not reading this right but just in case here's my two cents. Swordtails will definitely eat their fry. It doesn't matter if their the mom or not. If you want to keep the fry then you need to either have a special fry tank that the swordtail can give birth in and then remove the mother or have plenty of hiding places in the regular tank for the fry to escape to.
