Baby Biorb - Starting From Scratch

Hello!
 
I recently moved house and have brought my empty (and previously used) Baby Biorb with me.
 
I would like to start keeping Tropical Fish again, possibly looking at a Siamese Fighter.
 
My question is - What is your advice for starting again?
 
The tank still has the same ceramic media, Filter cartridge, etc since it was last used! Should I buy new ceramic media, etc before filling with water and getting a new fish?

buying new media is recommended, cycling is an imprtant part, you can get a link here
 
and the possible tankmates here (note: not all fish in the list can be put with bettas or siamese fighters)

What size is your biorb?
And just want to check..do you have a heater?
