:D One of my platties has had fry, I've managed to get 3 into a breeding net, How long do they have to stay in this, and will they change colour or stay yellow.

Any tips would be great. :fun:

They seem to grow really quick... Mine do anyway.

Hint: If you have one of those breeding nets that are stretchy acrylic nets round a plastic frame (rather than clear plastic boxes), check the plastic struts TWICE A DAY EVERY DAY. 2 of my fry managed to swim between the net and the strut and get stuck "round the back". There's a groove running up the outside of the strut, they swum in there, got stuck and carried on growing, getting too large to swim out. Fortunately we spotted them and stretched the net out to free them. THey seem fine, but that was nearly a disaster...

Disclaimer: I AM A NOOB.

They stay in there untill they are big enough not to fit in any of the other fishes mouths. Mine are around 3 weeks and about 1cm long and a few are living happily in my main tank. But I have no large fish that would eat them, so its not an issue.
Colour..depends on the parents. My red/orange babies started out yellow, but 3 weeks on are now quite orange and a complete minature of their mom
But the gold twin bar were almost clear in colour, and after a week are just starting to get a little yellow. Both have taken after their moms, they were preggers when bought, so all I can assume is they mated with their siblings while been grown on. So if you know both the parents...then the colour will be either or somewhere in between the 2 and the colour may vary from fish to fish. Its the great part of watching them grow up.

Try not to have them in the breeder net for too long as this can stunt their growth.

Good luck with your new offspring  ;)
