Woohoo, they're almost here! They arrived in the USA a day or two ago, and Linda Olsen will be shipping them to me either today or Monday (since I'll be out of town this weekend and don't want them to arrive then. I'm letting her decide which day would be best.) I went with FedEx Next Day shipping since, heck, I already spent this much, I might as well go all out . The cost of the trio + shipping totaled to nearly $200, but just look at these pics William sent me and try to tell me they're not worth it!

These are two of the actual fish I'm receiving, plus another male.

Wow, I'm jealous  If you want you can, uh, send me wads of cash so I can, uh, spread the wild type message to us in the UK :shifty: Yeees, thats it :shifty: Wish I could afford that amount of money :X

How exciting. You're going to have new fish everywhere :look: :shifty:
Dibs on a pair when you get some :fun:

Stunning! I think it is very important to start the captive breeding of these fish so they are no longer being wild-caught, so good luck with spawning; it is awesome that you can do something to productive with your hobby. I'm sure you'll have more than a few buyers just on this board alone.

Of course!
Hopefully they'll be good little fishies and spawn for me soon... and not eat the eggs :X

I hope so! My excuse for buying them was that when they breed they'll pay for themselves, lol!
I think it's very important to breed these fish so wild capture is no longer needed. The trio I'm getting were tank raised; F1 . Next year I'll be moving to a town with a local chapter of the IBC, at which time I'll be joining and hopefully becoming involved in the species maintenance program. I'd like to try breeding some of the species that are either rare in the wild or difficult to breed in the home aquarium.

Wow! B. Albimarginata, the 'White Edged' betta :hyper:. I can't wait to see more pictures of the pair Synirr

I get a second dibs on a Lady if not a pair.

Oh well, I guess it can't always be about me. (sulking :-( )

I'm excited for you, and expecting to be kept updated.

Excellent! They're lovely and I hope they arrive all safe and sound for you. Those are some expensive fish, but well worth it. Breed like there is no tomorrow!!!!

Woohoo, they're here!!! I skipped class today so I'd be home to sign for the package. :*)
All three look wonderfully healthy and have had a meal of live mosquito larvae. I'm absolutely mad about them, they're stunning! Well worth the price, that's all I can say

I was told I could house them all together, so I'm going to give it a try. I've got a 5 gallon for one of the males if there are problems, but so far so good. They're not nearly as skittish as my imbellis, but they are definitely good at hiding when they want to! The two males aren't shy about being out in the open, but the female has found a great hiding spot between a plant and a rock. I ended up searching the floor for her when I came home from my 5:00 lab, fearing the worst even though I've covered all escape routes, because I simply could not find her!

10 gallons. There are tons of places to hide in there, so I'm hoping I can house the males together, at least until I'm ready to spawn them. They posture a bit when they meet, but no fighting thus far; I'm keeping an eye on them :). Their only tankmate is my poor lonely khuli who I haven't been able to find any friends for since her boyfriend died.
