Hi guys,

It's been a while since I've posted anything but I need some advice. I'm going on vacation next week for a whole week and I don't know what to do about my fish. I bought them 2 7-day tablets that release food for a week but I'm not too sure if it's gonna work. I put a piece of one in and they're eating it but I just wanted some opinions as to what I should do. I didn't want to spend 40 bucks on an actual automatic feeder but if I have to, I will.

And another thing, what should I do for my pleco? My mom has a friend coming to the house every other day so I can ask her to feed him. Would that be ok?

Any info is appreciated!
Thanks guys!

how long are you away for and what species do you have? most fish will be fine up to 2 weeks with no food

Don't worry about feeding them while you're away, they'll be okay for a week without food. As long as you don't have any fry, that is. It's also better than having someone else feed your fish, as they could overfeed, pollute the water, and cause bigger problems than hungry fish.

Of course, if you feel bad about leaving your fish with no food, you could get one of those pill containers with the days on them, and put a measured amount of food in each compartment if your mom's friend is willing to do it.

Also, I'd take the piece of feeder block out ASAP, and do a water change. They don't do much other than dirty the water. :good:

Yea I figured they'd be ok a week without food but I'm just worried about them. I have 2 Black Moors and a pleco (Yes, I know they're not a good combo but they get along fine). That pill container is a good idea, I'll keep that in mind. I'm doing a water change Saturday before I leave so I'll take the tablet out then. Thanks so much guys!
