Automatic Feeders?

Can anyone tell me if the automatic feeders are a good idea for feeding my fish while away. I am away from home most weekends and want to have more control about how much food they are given cos I think the person who feed them in my absence is over-feeding and it's causing snail numbers to explode.

If its only 2-3 days they can go without feeding without issue. I have left mine for 2 weeks without feeding without problems its normally 3+ weeks that problems a rise. If you think about the wild they wouldn't get a regular meal each day.
