Hello all! As you guys know, the mundane task of toting buckets to your tank can get real OLD, real QUICK, as it has for me. I have a python, but I'd like to make some sort of auto top off valve. If I am thinking of this correct, I believe NO electricity should be needed. If any of you have ANY suggestions, or see a flaw in design, please speak up! I am going to attempt to make this contraption this weekend, should I get the answers I need here.
My 300 gallon is located in my living room. DIRECTLY below it, in the basement, is the main water supply to the house. Now, the way I see it, I should be able to run something like a tap (like what an icemaker uses) from the main, upstairs to the tank's sump. The only problem I am having is figuring out how to get the newly ran water line to SHUT OFF when desired water level is reached. The reason I say I do not believe electricity needs to be used, is because I plan to emulate a toilet in many ways. The automatic top off in a toilet needs no electricty.
Im hoping you guys can help me out. I'm going to buy a toilet repair kit this weekend at lowe's just to see the principal behind it. I will report back in. Thanks!!
