Rainbows, gudgeons and archers are the most common aquarium fish, but there are a LOT of others.
Personally, I would go for native: I have always wanted to keep native fish, but unfortunately not many are available in Europe which remain small throughout their lives.
There are certain things which should be taken into account if collecting native fish:
1. You probably need a fishing license
2. Once the fish is in your aquarium, that is where it should stay: never release fish back into the wild, give them away to someone else in the hobby
3. Young fish adapt to aquarium life much better
4. Wild fish are very likely to be brimming with parasites
5. Wild fish will not always take dry foods readily: be prepared to feed only live foods for at least some time.. some will never adapt
