Now, I have always had a hard time finding a pellet food that my pleco's really like. I was always used to waking up in the morning finding leftovers in the bottom of the tank because the pleco's just weren't satisfied. I tried several different brands and no such luck. it was getting to the point that it was rather expensive to feed them.
Well, I have found a food that is so delicious to them, that there are NO leftovers. For example, the first day of feeding them, I fed them, went into the next room, and came back (took about 2 minutes), and there were 3 males Bristlenose (albino) all flaring at each other trying to see who gets to eat first. This food is VERY inexpensive. It is 4 dollars PER POUND. That's extremely cheap! They are called "Weekender Pellets" , and here is a link:

I have never seen a reaction to food such like this with pleco's before. I just figured I'd share my triumph with you guys!

If you want, I can give you the owners cell and you can call and ask.

Not entirely sure what the direct ingredients mean but.. it states 40% protein, that seems pretty high to feed a veg based plec long term. I would be interested to find out from others what the actual ingredients means in lamens terms. Just going by the protein content alone i'd say it wouldn't be the best of idea's to feed BN's long term as a staple diet.

The other thing would be that it may well suit a BN or infact send BN's into a frenzy but i doubt that most other different dietary requirement plecs would give a second look.

i too saw the protein content. its some 10-15% over any recommendation. as a treat, fine. but for regular feeding ????

I am unsure of what proteins they are exactly. I will give him a call monday.I would assume they are from plants. My Rubber Nose and Spotted sailfin love them too.

what type of protein is not relevant. its very high for a staple.

I was under the impression that it wasn't as big of a issue if it's a plant protein instead of a animal protein.

I beleive they should be fed low protein foods as they eat constantly, and they have trouble digesting high protein foods, this is where bogwood helps, if they get used to high protein food all the time they wont go back to algae and surface growing organisms, a bit like us having steak all the time. di

I'd like to point out, if you are interested in BN's, our fishyfeet, is the one to ask. well, in my experience, anyway.

I am aware. I usually go to John for help since he sold me the Albino BN's a while back. I do have bogwood for them. I might look and see what else they have, and try switching fish foods back n forth.

Feeding high protein food occasionally is fine, as is bloodworm which they love, but they are usually scavagers in the wild and can survive on a very poor diet, but like all our animals we sometimes spoil them too much, at a cost to their health, how many people have over weight dogs and cats, di
