I have just recently swapped substrates from powdered white sand to a dark larger grained sand, i also used a layer of JBL fert substrate 2cm and at least 6 cms of sand. I thought the issue would resolve regarding rooting plants. The Corys appear to be the problem. There are plenty of Vallis (which are getting uprooted hourly), Swords (which are fine), Crypts (uprooted daily), some dwarf grasses (i wonder if someone could id these?) ? these are also getting uprooted. So, leads a no no what can i use?

What I would do is leave the plants floating for a few weeks, they'll start shooting roots in order to try and find nutrients, after they've sent out a few roots plant then into the substrate, I used the technique a few months ago and it worked a treat.

As for the ID, I'm unsure without a closer picture.

Id use rocks or pebbles, or even little bits of wood around the bottom of each plant, give it a week and they should have rooted and you can take it away

Im not sure on the species, things going round my head are dwarf sag, lilaopsis brasensis, Truck may be able to help....

Im leaning towards thinking they are different species, the top lilaopsis brasensis, and the bottom, just a bunch of vallis(maybe nana) cut short, or small runners...

thats the closest i could get, i only have my iphone at the mo and the camera on it is rubbish. I have just had a look and it looks like a micro sword. its been in for about 2 weeks now and its going great guns!

thanks lads.

sorry, missed the pictures in the previous post, the first one is definitely Lilaopsis brasensis.
