i have a huge bunch of java fern plantlets but im having trouble growing them, i have a few pieces of wood and i put the plantlets in a big bunch tucked against the wood, i left them for 2-3 weeks and the roots are still not attaching to the wood, does it matter if the wood is mostly smooth and doesnt have a rough surface for the roots to grip, i was going to tie them to the wood but dont know wether i should tie the rhizome or the roots to the wood, and how long would they take to attach to the wood or rock ?

use super glue 100% cryolight (or something like that) it takes awhile for them to root :good:

Cyanoacrylate ;)

It will take them longer than two or three weeks to root on, as mike rightly pointed out; give them a chance!

i guess i have been a bit impatient with them, i just thought they weren't growing for some reason, but thanks for the advice people :good:

okay i had no super glue handy, so i just used cotton to lightly but securely tie all my baby java's to a rock and i have placed it where i feel looks good, now i just gotta wait! look forward to seeing them grow :D

So do we mate, put up a pic of now and another when they are maturing. :)

heres a pic of them now

its all just a bunch of tiny plantlets as you can see a few larger ones which grew to that size before i even picked them off the parent plant.
when they have all grown they will play an important part in the scape of my tank :)

Just been looking at buying some of these and realised that that's what I've got growing happily, complete with rooty plantlets on several larger leaves. ( Despite my silver dollars!!)
Quite fancy fixing some to the bog wood I have, ready to put into my new tank - now I know how, thanks!
