Hi Everyone!

I've purchased some java moss and I am thinking of attaching it to a piece of bogwood in my tank. How thick should I pile it onto the bogwood? If I do it too thick wont it die underneath? I am going to use cotton to tie it down, should I do it pretty losely and how long does it take for cotton to break down in the tank?

Thanks

It doesn't have to be a thick bunch, just a thin layer to start. Otherwise, as you say, you'll get some dieoff. Don't cut the moss in half with the thread or anything, but you can tie it down pretty tightly. Cotton thread will last at least a few weeks, usually longer in the aquarium. As long as the wood isn't too smooth, the moss should attach well before the thread breaks down.

If i find that the moss has attached before the thread has broken down should I cut it off?
