1 month ago, got new tank and moved my fish in there, they settled in perfectly, I now have pregnant guppy :D
before the tank moving, I had 2 assorted rainbow fish, 1 died =( RIP

at the moment I have 7 guppies, 1 betta and an assorted rainbow

the Assorted Rainbow (AR) is going crazy

attacking what ever gets near him in something more than 25l as this tank is WAY bigger than last.

rainbows need a min of a 4 foot tank, and need to be kept in schools of 6+
the reason he is attacking is because you didn't cycle the tank, which killed the other one.
he is not social, acting out and attacking others. rehome the fish before it dies, it sounds like you don't have the proper set up, and it is cruel on the fish to have it in a small tank.

the minimum size tank should be 4 foot in length, and usually around 50 gallons.

How big is your tank, exactly, and do you know if it's cycled (ie, have you been testing for ammonia and nitrite)?

I'm afraid BerryAttack is right; many shoaling fishes do get very aggressive if not kept in suitable numbers; usually six or more.

7 guppies, 1 pregnant, 1 AR and a betta

they used to be fine in this tank bigger than 20l as my last was 20 but got new 1 bigger

now the AR is destroying the bettas tail and the guppies, going really fast round tank,

all balanced and perfect, tested not long ago.

why is my AR trying to bite all that go near, he was fine with them =(

he is in another tank atm, by himself while I wait for answers

What were the actual numbers from your tests, and how big is the new tank?

The rainbow is probably trying to be dominant; with other fish of his own species, this usually doesn't cause any trouble, but he's bigger and stronger than the guppies so they are suffering.

ok, as im 13 I cant really do it now, but I will do VERY soon, sorry that my posts have been buggy and incomplete (bad laptop)

and its like 27L very wide and on its own cabinet

my last AR died of white spot in winter

U need to get either at least a 3 ft tank if not bigger depends on what rainbow it is. If u can not do that give it to ur lfs or another fish keeper ur tank is way to small for it.

they never used to be like this with eachother =( I may be getting some other rainbows, just had talk to family. we will try 2 things,
get REALLY large tank, something about 5 foot wide to fill up empty space, then have about 6-8 rainbows in there WITH my guppies
or
get another tank about 5-6 foot wide with just 6-8 rainbows

thanks soooooooooooooo much for helping

I think you mean 5ft long rather than wide

. But a larger tank with more of its own species should settle your rainbow fish down. That way any bickering should happen amongst themselves not towards the other fish. Also adding some tall plant life and or timber structure (goldvine is good for this) will help break up the line of sight for the fish and give them a chance to hide or avoid each other.
