The TSN is now just a touch under 10"

Someday I'm going to keep a tank like that... some day. :)

It's a shame i can't keep him for full time.....

he's got to go once he gets to around 16-20", i'm looking for a smaller speices of shovel nose to replace him!!

Your severum sounds perfectly healthy, mine seems very similar to yours, although I haven't tried him with live food

Cool pics, that tank has awesome fish in it

very nice fish paul!

why does the water appear so murky? (cloudy)

i REALLY like the rays, cant get enough of em

That TSN will need to go long before it hits 20" paul, that is if you want any other fish left alive. A 20" TSN is a awsome predator and nothing under a foot will be safe, plecs rays Cichlids arowana's and other catfish will all be on the menu and devoured without problems :/

Tanks looking better without the rocks, gives it a more natural appearence.

Your right, i cant tell anything from the ray pictures  however are you aware that keeping plecs and rays in the same tank is really not advised? Loricarids have been known to suck on the skin of rays and leave them with wounds which can get infected, as you know rays are incredibly difficult to treat so the easiest thing to do is just remove any possible harm from the tank before it can happen. The choice is yours.

Cheers Lucky, your gold sev is gorgeous aswell!!

It's murky as those silly rays find it fun disturbing all my sand, before i did my water change on the weekend and removed some you couldn't see 6inch into the tank!!

Yeh I prefer it without the rocks and i reakon the rays do, there's loads more open space now plus i see most of the fish pretty easily now. shame my camera battery ran out last night!!

Ok maybe not 20" then!! I wish i didn't do it now as it's going to be hard to let him go :byebye:

Yep, I'm aware of that situation but I love my plecs aswell :D I am keeping a close eye on him though, at the moment he likes algae and wood!! Don't you keep a Royal panague in with your rays??

Yep those pics are pretty alful of him i think the last set were better, although I e-mailed the pics to another contact i got that keeps alot of rare rays and they seemed fairly confident that they were P. Reticulas which is hopefully the case staying alot smaller.

No one guessed whos poking there nose out of the black piping behind the ray!!

No i moved the Panaque and Peckolita out of that tank as they made too much mess and are a bit small to be living in the same tank as a near 20" Leiarus pictus, not to mention the fact that i had a panic attack everytime i saw the ray swim into the bogwood area where the plecs lived

Paul, can i suggest finding an aquarium that would take the shovelnose sooner rather than later? They are a very interesting species, but as CFC said, not really right for the average aquarium (not that yours is anywhere near average).

You live in Essex, so there are a couple of aquariums around there.

The other option is to find a fish shop that would consider taking him, but make sure that they even have the facilities to accomodate him.

On to the tank, looks awesome, but no lid - not scared of your sev jumping?

Other than that, some great fish, im sure you will do some good things with that tank :)

Ben
