Not a single source said that anywhere. If it did, post the link here. Maybe it is you that should lay the pipe down?that TA in water isn't as important for FW fish as SW![]()
You should know by now that the majority of FW environments do not contain as much TA as the oceans, therefore FW fish cannot depend on their water as much as SW fish to obtain TA, that's why they get them from food when there isn't enough in the water. They get it in the water WHEN/IF it's available that's what you still don't get. Does it need to be spelled out for you? Of course since you're continually in denial you couldn't make that mental leap.
In fact after looking at the scientific data you came to the same conclusion.
All of the above shows how freshwater fish depend on some (albeit a comparatively low) level of solutes in the water to effectively osmoregulate.
And you still make the erroneous claim of "effectively osmoregulate". How do you know what is effective and what isn't?
I also see you've completely abandoned your previous claim about tap water being better than RO water..why is that?
Maybe you temporarily put the pipe down and realised tap water isn't much better than RO water? B) The absence of these solutes by keeping a fish in pure RO water will place unnecessary strain on the fishes' osmoregulation as it constantly tries to combat an increased rate of loss of internal solutes as well as living in water devoid of the natural level of solutes from which it replaced many of them.
From the above you made the false assumption that RO water is pure...lol. Like I said in my original post why does it taste sweet like mineral water if it's pure? Also where does it say in those links that fish have to "strain" to osmoregulate when put in RO water without additional mineral supplements? That is YOUR assumption. Just because it's easier on some fish to take certain minerals from water than from food doesn't mean when taking it from food they have to "strain"
...try again. You try to blow it out of proportion to make it seems as though your links back up what you claim which was *TA is equally important for FW and SW fish and tap water is better because it has TA while RO water doesn't*. So how does FW fish reject the minerals in tap water that they cannot use? Do they "strain" to do that too? More armchair science.
