hi, i am looking for some arm length gloves to use while maintaining my aquarium. would you suggest the very thin disposable ones, or the thicker rubber ones? also, where would you suggest buying them from?

cheers :good:

you can buy the rubber ones from a builders merchant who sell drainage items, they are good for getting crap out of drains but i would imagine they would be too cumbersome in an aquarium, they aren't exactly designed for fine and fiddly stuff. I would suggest not using gloves as you would lose dexterity, nothing wrong with just giving your arms a good wash after tank maintenance, if you're that worried

hi, the problem is i have problems with my white blood count dropping really low, and i've just caught an infection from my tank (possibly fish TB) and i do wash my hands really well afterwards. so i've been told by the doctor to wear arm length gloves.

i am a bit annoyed though, as i'll struggle to plant anything with thicker gloves. what about the thin ones that vets use?

they do mail order they will

I would use rubber gloves, the vet gloves often have lots of chemicals on them, not suitable in aquariums as it will probably mess up your water stats

For the planting side of things I have a really deep tank that I cannot reach the bottom of so needed ideas.... Went to my lfs and they sold a planting rod..... It's like a large long set of pincers that you open and close with the handle!! Works really well :) I will try and google one for you

i use medical gloves
when messing with the
tank now like with me
having a low immune system
the gloves i use only have
corn starch on them nothing
