O/H had to shout me in a minute ago, divider in the male tank had falled and my HM and VT were at it. Both of them are in pieces, Tai is strutting about with a bit of the VT's fin in his mouth - which I am a bit worried about, don't know if its stuck somewhere or not...

Don't know what else to do bar add melafix and keep the water clean

Both are looking extremely stressed and tired, think it must've been down for a while[haven't been in the kitchen for at least an hour].

This happens JUST when the VT has perfect fins, and Tais is recovering from a split.

Little devils. I had this happen to me once. I just replaced them in their own sides and added salt. I also kept the water level down as mine jumped the divider. They never did recover their full tails, but both lived another 18 months afterwards.

Ditto drop the water level and add some salt to the water, just keep it clean and warm for them, don't put the tank light on so they aren't so stressed.

Had it happen a couple of times to me and my HM still has ragged ends to his tail but he is getting better and doesn't seem so bothered.

Good luck.

Strange however as the VT came out looking the worse the end of it, his tail was shredded. The HM looks a lot more stressed though - he's refusing to eat and is just sitting in a corner vertical.

RIP Thai, you will be sadly missed. You opened my eyes up to the beautiful finnage of halfmoons, and had such a personality.

:-(

I'm so upset by this, its unreal.

Thank you Amerce.

The VT still isn't showing any signs of stress, just shredded fins but luckily none of them are right down to the body.

Still absolutely gutted though, from they day he came from you Amerce he was full of life - also the first male involved in my first attempt at breeding..

ETA- I really need to stop letting o/h on my laptop, he doesn't sign out!

Oh what a shame, did you every get any spawns from him ?

The second time round I paired him with the purple girl from you, she was full of eggs and the pair were trying so hard at it. They were spawning, or trying to, for 2 days solid but I never did see a successful wrap. Took them out with the intent of giving them a week or so's break as both were looking extremely exhausted but other things got in the way and I never got the time.

Wish they had managed even a few fry, so I could've kinda had a part of him - loved that boy as much as Tyson :-(
I know its a fish, but hey - everyone on here will understand how it feels.

Don't think I'll attempt another spawn for a while now, still got loads of problems going around so all the betta's will just be much loved pets

Still have the spawning tank and all the stuffs, but its all been taken down at the moment as I had to sacrifice the space, so when the time's right I'll be set for a few pairs and try my hardest to spend the maximum amount of time maintaining it!

ETA - Well, the VT is back to making his colossal bubblenests, so think he'll be alright now.

Awww hun i'm really sorry to hear that. I know how it feels to loose them, i know they are fish but to me its the same as loosing a cat or a dog, they become part of the family.

Big hugs to you hun

R.I.P lil man
