i was looking about my tank this atfernoon and i saw reflected on the tank back, a poor serpae tetra that had rammed itself behind my co2 do-da.
i unstuck it and he came swimming out....FINNLESS!

he has only his back fin, no tail or anything! he seems to be able to use his 'tailless' tale ok, but his lack of fins means hes having trouble staying upright! - i fed the fish and he managed to eat it and the other fish arnt bothering him,

im so upset he looks in a bad way - i cant bring myself to kill him :( even though i know its probably best

when i bought him he had hardly any fins (he was in a overcrowded shop tank) and they grew back

will it happen again? at the mo he just has little stubs!

poor little thing!

what should i do?

Sorry bless him, not a good sign when they are struggling to swim, the effort will just wear him out sorry.

yeah thats what i thought :( ive put him in a breeding net to stop the other fishes getting to him - well just have to wait and see

Ok good luck.

daww well he didnt make it - i guess it was too much for him and he just gave up, its sad! he was one of my first fishes! im just glad he didnt suffer for very long!

Or bless him sorry, i know awful when you lose any fish and when it your favourite even worse.
R.I.P.

No a serpae tetra.
But any fish loss is not nice.
