Are You Ever Satisfied?

I'm a car sales man and in my line of work we like to say. The second your satisified in the second you should quit becuase you've just became stale.

So was I sasitifed iwth my fish keeping when I was in it? NO! I ended up with 6 tanks in a span of a year.

I guess I am at every fishkeeper's favourite stage, the start!!! This will be the 3rd time I have had the joys of a new set-up, the first being my little 60 litre 4 years ago, the 2nd my Rio 180 that is going to my Uncle's house tomorrow after 6 months in a garage. 6 months down the line after breaking it down I am finally getting back in the game with 5/6 new tanks of small size which is what I have always wanted to be honest. Species tanks all around apart rom possibly 1 small community set-up.

I love all the planning and designing of how the system will work and all the aquascaping involved. Certainly not going to rush anything this time round to savour the best part of fishkeeping!! Even if it takes me 6 months to get all the tanks up and running with the correct stock then that will be that! They are only going to be 10 gallon tanks but don't want to put something in 1 and then think 3 months down the line "I wish I had done that".

thats why we tinker so much. half the fun of an aquarium is setting it up doing the scape etc etc so once its done youre left with this feeling of ok so what now?

I'm never satisfied,at one point i had 6 tanks,i'm constantly swapping fish and selling fish and starting new.

I have kept..

Discus,Oscars,Goldfish,Piranahs,Reef Tank with Tangs,Damsels,Clowns,Dottybacks,Community,Malawis.

I always get the urge to keep new things.

I have been contemplating a gigantic Koi pond and a indoot Red Tail cat fish pond for years :p

If i was rich i would have a shark tank!

you can never be satisfied lol..

even if you think you are, you then discover someone else's tank looks a hundred times better then yours, and then you have to rip apart one of yours and try to make it better lol.

or, you hear about some fish you rarely see around you, then you start plotting on how to squeeze "just one more" tank into a house already jam packed with tanks lol.

Like me, for instance...I recently had a serious conversation around how I wanted a loveseat for x mas so that i can ditch the couch and put a corner tank in lol...because I saw a fish that just called my name lol....

I had a major urge to go marine but luckily I planed and set up a mates marine tank. It kinda killed that urge!!!

I really wanted seahorses at one point, so I researched them and found how messy they are and decided against it. So instead I upgraded from 20 gallon to 60 gallon, but even that's nowhere near big enough for half the stock I want  but its impossible there's no room left in the house. Tried to convince the husband to wallmount the 42" t.v. and said we'd need a cabinet below for the sky box and wii etc. so why not have a fish tank with a cabinet there  he actually went for it, but i realised how over the top that was going to look in my tiny lounge and decided to wait til we move one day and make sure I choose a house with plenty of space for tanks :p

Well i never get satisfied in my tank. Every time i stock it i find a problem in it after 2 weeks. But till now its working fine. with no problems. I hope it will remain like this.

tell me about it on the tank size mel i went from a 26gallon to a 100gallon and still i cant have even vlose to everything i want its already at the point where if i want anything else it will have to be at the expense of a "resident" fish

bigpig that looks great with your tv on the wall to make room for a tank like your style. have been saying to the missus that as there is only 2 of us here we dont really need tha big ole corner sofa . for some reason she is not convinced. god only knows why

Bigpig I would but I have got paper walls and would need some mammoth construction with joists and wotnot to make it work and I can't really be assed with it all, I need to be controlled! We are hoping to relocate to southern Spain in 18 months and I will try and see if I can have a place where I can have a 6x2x2 and that should please me, hopefully :/ and probably won't even need to heat the thing!

i think i am lucky with my mum she got me a 55 gal for xmas but i persuaded her to give me it 3 weeks before now i have a 55gal and 25gal in my room god knows why the roof hasnt caved in yet :D me and my girlfriend have said i can have a rena tanbk for our own place which is 700litre :p cant wait

my mother has just let me purchase a 30 gallon, its going in my room over 2 joists, and i dont see why your 25 gallon should be a problem as long as its over the joists

well my mum doesnt like my hobby, and ive only been allowed a 60 litre for the past 3 years, and ive been able to upgrade to a 125 litre :) and by no means is this big but i will be extremly satisfied with it.

i think some people dont realise how lucky they are to have a big tank...

That sucks. im 15 and i have 2, 29 gallon tanks, and a 20 g flat hexagon tank. Funny thing is, my mom dosent like my hobby either.
