Are water changes the only way for safe healing of fish with disease?

The only time to be wary of hot tap water is if you have a hot water cylinder and cold water header tank in the attic and live in the UK. Here, this type of system has a header tank which is not sealed. In our case it has a layer of plastic coated insulation just lying on the top. They are supposed to have a mesh as well to stop insects getting in, but builders being builders..... These header tanks have been known to have dead rats, mice, pigeons etc in them. We have had several wasps nests in the attic. We get the council to remove them (they cost less than private companies) and they spray insecticide into what's left of the nests. After a few days I remove a lot of dead wasps from the header tank, which may or may not be covered in insecticide.

Hot water cylinders fed from the mains are safe, as are the type of boiler called combi boilers in the UK (where mains water is heated by the boiler and made on demand, no hot water cylinder) If you have either of these types, it is safe to use hot tap water.
