Are They In The Mood

Hi I have a pair of bolivian rams, unsure of sex but im sure they are showing signs of dropping there breeding tubes if im right does this mean they are a pair and are trying to spawn

The female egg tube shows some obvious enlargement (lenghening) just before spawning but the male doesn't look markedly different in my recent experience.

If they both have obvious egg tubes then it sounds like two females.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Perhaps see if you can get this moved to New Worlds, you'd probably get more answers there.

I'm just unsure as my angels both had tubes showing for weeks before a succesfull spawn and these two rams are perpetually chasing flaring and grappling each others mouths

I originally had 3 females in one tank and they all established their own little territories. Whenever they came into contact there was mouth locking and chasing etc.

Males and females can behave the same way towards each other initially too though.
