hi

This is a copy of the water parameters in this area are they ok for discus?

Water source
The water supply to this area comes from local reservoir sources.
Water quality
The water supply to this area is very soft. The supply is low in naturally occuring fluoride and is not artifically fluoridated.

Analysis Typical value UK/EU limit Units
Hardness level very soft
Hardness Clarkes 2.800 ° Clarke
Hardness 16 mg Ca/l
Aluminium < 8.53 200 µg Al/l
Calcium 11.6 mg Ca/l
Residual chlorine - total 0.41 mg/l
Residual chlorine - free 0.32 mg/l
Coliform bacteria 0 0 number/100ml
Colour 1.12 20 mg/l Pt/Co scale
Conductivity 142 2500 uS/cm at 20oC
Copper 0.0139 2 mg Cu/l
E.coli 0 0 number/100ml
Iron 41.4 200 µg Fe/l
Lead < 1.80 25 µg Pb/l
Magnesium 2.62 mg Mg/l
Manganese 1.71 50 µg Mn/l
Nitrate 3.18 50 mg NO3/l
Sodium 13.7 200 mg Na/l

im a bit miffed by all the nos thanks

Hey
i believe the only two that are much use are
Nitrate 3.18 50 mg NO3/l
Hardness level very soft

soft water and a low ph is ideal for discus,

you will need to dechlorinate the water and cycle a tank but IMO it should be fine

a cycled tank will have

0 ammonia
0 nitrite
a small amount of nitrate
