Are These Good Bulbs For Plant Growth?

I got these from the LFS:

"10 Watt Eclipse Compact Fluorescent Lamp"
"Promotes Aquatic Plant Growth"
"5100K Natural Daylight Illumination - 10 Watt"

That's all the box really says... Other than the info above, all I can really say is the bulbs are made by Marineland.

5100k is pretty powerful. Depending on your plants I would say yes, very good bulb.

The "K" rating is a measurement of the colour temp. - not power. Power is the wattage i.e. 10 watts in this case.

What size tank is it you are using? 10w isn't much light for all but the tiniest of volumes.

First, there are two of those bulbs for the tank, so would that make it 20w total...? Secondly, the tank is 10 gallons. Does that info help you at all...?

So that comes out to 2wpg. Which should be perfect. (Though many things come into play with lighting, but generally this should be good)
