They're 50 plants for £10 - I'd only get them if they grow easily in sand.

Advice? Thanks, Jonty

I have heard of a few of those, and the ones that I recognize are supposed to be pretty easy to grow. Those plants would be:

Cabomba caroliniana Cabomba
Ceratophyllum demersum Hornwort
Echinodorus bleheri Amazon Sword Plant (*I had one of these plants at one time in my 10 gallon when I first set it up, and may I say that they are HUGE plants, and reproduce quick. I had to get rid of it because of its size. IT was fun to watch they air bubbles rise from the runners though!)
Hygrophila difformis Water Wisteria
Ludwigia repens Ludwigia

Again, these are the only ones that I have heard of, and from what I understand, they are quite easy to grow.

All of the aquatic plants available to us (expect plants that shouldn't be buried) can be grown in sand because the plants obtain nutrients from the water just as well as from the substrate.
Therefore, when keeping a planted tank with an inert/non-nutrient rich substrate, you must make sure the water column is dosed sufficiently with macro (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) and micro (trace elements) nutrients.
