Hello! I am sort of new to all of this, so I'm hoping you all could give me some tips and just general information. I have a pair of JD's in a 55 gallon tank. They are the only inhabitants of the tank, and have been together since they were babies. I am currently moving and yesterday I moved the tank. It took a few hours, but nothing major. What I did find extremley interesting is that as soon as I reintroduced them to the tank after being in transit in a bucket tha majority of the day they immediatley started behaving differently. Dancing and fluttering their fins in sync, rubbing up against one another and locking lips. Both have also become an extremley dark purple with absolutely amazing florescent colors. They are about a year old, almost to the day. I obviously did something to initiate this because I have never seen them behave this way towards one another. Any tips on what I can be looking for and expecting? My last Dempsey was a single Male I had for 10 years, so I'm a bit of a novice, especially with a potential breeding pair. Thanks again for any advice you can give me! I appreciate it.

Liz

Oh yeah that's courting. You should have some eggs in a few days if all goes well. They might start doing lots of digging and moving things around for the nest. They will be stuck together and will never part . It's cute. Then they will have eggs and they hatch in 1-2 days and you will have a very hard time seeing the new fry. The parents will or should watch other the nest and will nip at you if you put your hand in too close.
