So I had three honey gourami in my tank... and one of my gourami's seemed to start to act funny, always hiding, and today he eventually died... so I have two left... I originally thought I have all males...

Today I was sitting and looking at the tank and i noticed that both the remaining fish look different... one has some black forming on him... and his top fin is more pointed... the other one has no black, and the top fin is more rounded...so i think they're male and female... i noticed the male would go under the female and push her with his head.... sometime's he'd chase her too.......and then other time's they'd swim together... or just completely leave each other alone...

I noticed that the female was going up to one the the corners and she was there for a good 20mins, i thought maybe she was making a bubblenest or something, because i could see water splashing up on top...but, wasnt much bubbles made... I also noticed that sometimes the male would go to this corner also and swim up and down and around it..... or both fish would swim and stay near the corner... this is when he usually pushes her under her belly...

I dont have any floating plants, and it's hard to tell if any of them are making a bubble nest because I have a aqauclear filter, and it's near this one corner so there's already some bubbles floating up on top... also, i have no real plants, just silk ones... so what would the gourami's use to hold the bubble nest together??

It's a 70gallon and in it there is:

2 honey gourami
3 dwarf gourami
6 peppered cories
22 neon tetras
1 common pleco

so.... are my gourami's going to breed??.. or is this normal behavour?... I've had them for 3months now, and never noticed them doing this before...

between a pair its pretty common behavior, they will mate under the right conditions thogh. this includes still water, some floating plants or leaves, and super clean water. the fact that they are courting is a good sighn that your tank water is perfect for them, but with the airation and other factors in the tank, i dont think any eggs (if any are layed) would survive.
