I have some use play-doh containers from a project that I did and I wanted to rinse out the container and use it for the fishes. Would the container be poisonous to the fish? Can I use it?

Use it how? Put it in the tank? Why?

I wouldn't risk it myself.

I wanted to use it as a hiding cave for a day or 2 as a cave for my fish so they're not always in each other's face.

Try using a small terracotta plant pot, pennies to buy.

I think I might have a small clay pot that I have as a cave instead...

Play-doh containers should be safe as they are made in a way that nothing happens when a small kid puts a piece in their mouth. So, they are what we call household use safe. Nothing is supposed to 'leak' from household/children safe plastic. You should be able to use them.

ive just made some caves using clean glass pots and glueing gravel from my tank onto them with aquarium grade non toxic silicon (i paid £5 for the silicone from my lfs).

I think you can do the same with terracotta pots but just make sure you give anything you use a good scrub in hot water first.
