hi there i have just bought a aqua one 6' x 2' x 2' tank from ebay , it was being used as a vivarium .
i dont know what the guy kept in it as he wasnt present .
anyways i have it up and running with a new fluval fx5 and i was just wondering if its possible to use the bits of wood that came with it
one large peice looks like a branch of some sort it has dark brown bits on it , it is very clean and has no bark on it and is very hard
the other bit is bamboo root ide say from the pics on google

Give ita thorough wash obviously and it should be alright to use i would have thought.

Oooh, what stocking ideas you got. Thats a big tank with LOTS of potential to have fun with

hi i already have some oscars and severums in a smaller tank ready to go in and some various catfish oh and a jack dempsey

the root is sold as "jungle gyms" im just scared i poison the water with tannins or something

but being a root it should be ok right ??

but it is such a nice peice it would be a waste not to use it

i have hosed it , power washed it and poured boiling water over it

well i tried it in the tank after loads of scrubbing jet washing and pouring boiling water on it and the bloody thing floats like a boat i would need to tie it to an anvill its so boyant

Leave it soaking for a few weeks it should start to sink, i had a similar problem with a dried branch
