Does anyone know a website or anything that can help me calculate the weight of a fish tank that is empty, its for a courier service that want to know how much it weighs but all i have are the dimensions 46cm long x 28cm high and 19cm deep.

If anyone knows how to do this, as i would like to know for the future with bigger tanks that dont fit on scales :) cheers in advance

tbh, it will vary.

you cant go by dimensions as some tanks have thicker glass etc.

if you can guesstimate;

a microwave weighs 15kg
a washing machine (new without concrete) weighs 27kg
a car wheel with tyre weighs 5kg

so is it aywhere between those parameters?

if it weighs more than a washer, normally no courier will take it as it has a 30kg max weight

I reckon it'll be about 6/7kilos but at the very most it shouldn't break 10kg.
I worked it out with the surface area x glass thickness (I went for 5mm) x average weight of glass per metre squared.

Then double checked how much my aqua 40 weighed (google) once it's boxed.
And boxed the aqua 40 weights 9kg.
