Aquarium Thermometer Fixing

Hi all. I have a question about these. I accidently while turning the thermometer's plastic suction broke the top round tip off. What can i use to repare this back so that water doesn't get inside of this.

Mines sort of looks like this image below, just to give you an idea.

Is it jsut the suction cup that broken or the thermomter as well.
I would throw it away if the thermomter broke.
 
it is the thermometer that broke, but it is the very top tip, it's not actually broken inside anything, just the tip of the glass at teh top.
 
I would throw it away don't want them mercury balls in the tank..
 
Just buy some aquarium silicon from your LFS and stick that on the end. That will make it water tight once more
 
If you do decide to use the silcone you have to let it dry out for 24 hours before you add it to the tank.
I wouldn't risk it to be honest as if the fish knock it in the tank it could shatter.
Just use if for water changes.
