well, you can get play sand at B&Q, that is alright for fish tanks...


LFS sand is hideously expensive, b&Q is £4 for 25 kg

Depends on what type of sand you get, i bought fine white silica sand and that was worth every penny- much nicer than bog standard playsand B) .

playsand is fine unless you have a good current from your filter. Otherwise, i would recomend adding something on top or some decoration to alter the flow of water or it will just move the playsand around.

I have to admit I had my reservations about using play sand but I'm very happy with it now.
