I have a 55 gal freshwater tank with 5 angelfish and some gouramis. I have heard of a filter made from a set of filter cartridges from an RO setup. Does anyone have plans or  ideas? type of pump etc. I have the setup already

Why would you want a filter with a RO setup? You don't benefit much if at all with that.

It didn't use the membrane. It only used the 3 filter cartridges. And I asked for ideas or plans. Thank You

I have seen these type things.

They uses a circulation pump to pump tank water through a couple of cartridge housings. First one has say ceramic noodles, next some coarse sponge and final some filter floss.

Seem like a nice idea, but
- Were not that cheap to make for the flow rate obtained.
- Not very power efficient for the flow rate obtained.
- Absolute nightmare to clean. Need valves to isolate system. And when unscrewing the housings, water escapes everywhere. Also once a cartridge is off water has a tendency to syphon out the other cartridges thus making more water spilt.

Just my 2p worth of experience.
