Hey all,

I am currently doing my fishless cycle and I ended up having to movie some things around in my tank which has Sea Chem Flourite as the substrate. As I am sure many of you know this stuff does not wash clean and I created a very cloudy aquarium by moving things around. When the dust settles down, it settles all over my stones and such.

Is there any way to clean this up? I was thinking of kicking it up again and doing water changes to get the particulates out of the water...

Thanks!

Yeah, this kind of dust will eventually move out of your aquarium via water changes, filtering and the eventual cleaning of the filter itself. Its harmless of course. You may have some luck taking your decorations out, rinsing them, setting them aside and then gently lowering them back into the tank after it has cleared. Also, its important to note that if you are still in the first phase of fishless, when you are mostly wait for ammonia to drop from 5ppm to zero more quickly, but don't have a nitrite spike yet, then water changes seem to slow things down a bit. After nitrite spikes and you are clearly in the second phase of fishless, that's a great time to begin doing water changes just as if you were maintaining a normal tank (except that, as always, water changes during fishless can be 90%, as small percentages have no meaning in fishless cycling.)
